Key Manufacturing

History

Key Manufacturing is a designer and supplier of components to Australian manufacturers. Its principal clients are in the whitegoods, consumer durables, and automotive sectors. Services include fabrication as well as protective and decorative finishing, welding and assembly.

Key Manufacturing was formed in 1990 following a management buyout of the Key Industries Light Metals Manufacturing Division. Key Industries itself was established in 1945 by Norman Key and steadily acquired a wealth of manufacturing capabilities geared to serving South Australia's whitegoods industry.

The reputation of the company as a reliable supplier of quality components was well established. The revitalisation of the company as Key Manufacturing with the adoption of enhanced manufacturing procedures and quality standards has ensured its continued place as a preferred supplier to some of Australia's best known companies.

To ensure customer satisfaction by best practice in all aspects of the company's operations.

To design, manufacture and supply components and related services, including the provision of protective/decorative services and finishes.

To develop and create the culture and capabilities necessary to design, manufacture and market a range of propriety products appropriate to the capabilities of Key Manufacturing and to the needs of selected customers.

Major Objectives

To maintain accreditation under TS 16949 and ISO 9001 as a means of winning new business and consolidating automotive business.

To ensure continuing attitude of quality, cost and methods improvements throughout the organisation with particular reference to the identification and minimisation of scrap and rework costs.

To plan a five year improvement and development programme.

To build a dedicated and committed team with opportunities for training and self-development.
